Activation & Account

Signing in, subscription requirements, device management, and offline use.

PitLane Director AC requires an active subscription to use. Your subscription is managed through your account at pitlanesystems.com.

Signing in

Activation happens in your browser. The app never asks for your password. On first launch, or if your session has expired, PitLane shows an activation window.

  1. Click Sign in with browser. Your default browser opens an approval page on pitlanesystems.com, and the app shows a short code while it waits.
  2. Sign in on the website if you aren't already. Email and password, Discord, or Google all work. If you've enabled two-factor authentication, you'll be asked for your code as usual.
  3. Check that the code shown in your browser matches the code in the app. That match is your proof you're approving your own activation and not someone else's link.
  4. Click Activate this device. Within a few seconds, the app signs itself in and opens.

If you see an activation request you didn't start, click Deny. The code becomes useless immediately. Codes also expire on their own after 10 minutes. If that happens, start again from the app.

Subscription required

Activation requires an active subscription. If your account doesn't have one, the app will let you know after you approve.

Your account is ready — you just need an active subscription to continue.

After subscribing on the website, activate again from the app.

Device limit

Your subscription plan allows activation on a limited number of devices. The approval page in your browser shows how many device slots you're using, and if you're at the limit, it warns you before you approve.

If you hit the limit, open your dashboard and deactivate an old device to free a slot. Then activate again from the app.

Each installation of PitLane generates a unique device identifier. Reinstalling the app creates a new device. You can remove the old one from your dashboard.

Offline use

Once signed in, PitLane caches your session locally for 30 days. During that time, the app works without an internet connection. That matters at race events where network access can be unreliable.

When you're online, the app silently refreshes your session in the background on each launch.

If your session expires while you're offline, PitLane keeps working for another 7 days so a lost connection never stops a broadcast. The app tells you when this happens and how long you have left. Get online and restart PitLane to renew. After those 7 days it asks you to sign in again.
