PitLane organizes its screens as workspace tabs, like a browser. The Director is one tab. The Full Leaderboard, Event Log, Overlay Library, and Setup are others. The Full Leaderboard and Event Log can also be torn off into their own windows for a second monitor.
The tab strip
The tab strip sits in the title bar.
- Switch by clicking a tab.
- Open more workspaces with the + button at the end of the strip, from View > Workspaces, or with the command palette.
- Close a tab with its X. The Director tab is always open and cannot close.
- Reorder tabs by dragging them.
- Everything stays put. Panels, captures, and previews in a background tab keep running, so switching tabs never interrupts anything.
Your open tabs, their order, and the active tab are remembered between sessions.
Tear-off windows
Drag a tab up or down out of the strip and it becomes its own window, right at your cursor. You can also right-click a tab and choose Move to new window.
A torn-off window is a display surface with a slim header and the same status bar as the main window. It is built for a second monitor. The Full Leaderboard is the flagship case, a full timing screen beside your main control room.
- Pin the window on top of other windows with the pin button in its header.
- Hide the status bar from the header's right-click menu.
- Hotkeys still work. A combo pressed in a torn-off window is relayed to the app, so flags and camera cuts fire from either screen. Anything that opens a window, like the command palette or a settings dialog, opens in the main window and brings it forward. F11 stays local and fullscreens the window you pressed it in.
- Bring it back by closing the window, by right-clicking its ghost tab in the main strip and choosing Bring back to this window, or from the window's own right-click menu with Return to main window. Clicking the ghost tab focuses the window.
- Torn-off windows remember their size and position and come back on the next launch as you left them. If the monitor they were on is gone, the size is kept and Windows picks the spot.
Only the Full Leaderboard and the Event Log tear off. Director, Setup, and Overlay Library stay in the main window.
The command palette
Press Ctrl+K to open the command palette. Type a few letters and hit Enter.
Every command in the app is in there. Camera actions, flags, panel toggles, overlay visibility, workspace switching, OBS actions, and settings. It is the fastest way to do anything without leaving the keyboard. Ctrl+K is the default binding, and like almost everything it can be rebound in File > Settings... > Hotkeys.
Full Leaderboard
A broadcast-desk timing screen with every car and every column. Position, car number, driver, team, car, laps, interval, gap to leader, last lap, best lap, three sectors, tire compound and age, pit stops, and live speed.
- Click a row to cut the camera to that car, same as the panel leaderboard.
- Timing colors follow broadcast convention. Purple is the session best lap or sector. Green is a personal best.
- Battle markers. The chasing car in a live battle gets an amber marker on its interval.
- Nation flags appear beside driver names whenever the overlay server is running, since the flags are served by it.
- The session strip at the top shows the track, session type, flag state, lap count or time remaining, car count, and live status.
Event Log
The race timeline at full height. The same feed as the Director's events drawer, with filters, search, notes, and export to JSON, CSV, or text.
In the full view, events show wall-clock timestamps. If you scroll down to read history, new events keep arriving at the top without moving your position, and a pill appears offering to jump you back to live.
Setup
The guided path from install to on-air, with a live pipeline diagram and a checklist that lights itself wherever PitLane can detect the state, plus tick boxes for the few steps it cannot see. Fresh installs open on this tab. You can reopen it any time from View > Workspaces.
